Ralph Edward Lowe, 81, of Batavia, passed away May 20, 2013 as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident. He was born November 24, 1931 in Hinsdale, Illinois to Charles and Eva Lowe. He graduated from Downers Grove High School, DePauw University, and the University of Illinois College of Law. In 1956, Ralph was admitted to practice law in Illinois, and in 1958 he established a private practice in Aurora, IL. In 1974, he was admitted to the Georgia Bar and opened a second office in Atlanta. In 1990, he was admitted to the South Carolina Bar, and in 2004 was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. Ralph was a member of the American Bar Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He served as legal counsel to the Friends of the Batavia Public Library and the Clan MacLaren Society of North America. He practiced law for over 50 years before retiring in 2010. He married Patricia Eichhorst on August 23, 1952 and they were married for 60 years. Ralph enjoyed traveling with Patricia, spending time with his grandchildren, reading, gardening, and discussing politics. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His family and friends will miss his guidance, sense of humor, and kindness. He is survived by his wife, Patricia and three sons: John (Michelle) Lowe of Chicago, Michael (Rose) Lowe of Lilburn, GA., and Timothy (Lori) Lowe of Batavia. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Elizabeth (Doug) Walker of Okemos, MI., Kevin Lowe of Lilburn, GA., Alexander Lowe of Batavia, and Nicholas Lowe of Batavia. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Richard Lowe of Atlanta, GA. A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 22 at the Batavia United Methodist Church, 8 North Batavia Avenue, Batavia, Illinois. Visitation will begin at 2:00pm and the service will follow at 3:00pm. Following the service will be a time of fellowship and refreshments. Interment will be private at Yearsley Cemetery in Champaign County, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
