William Ansel Roessler, 89, of St. Charles, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva. He was born June 8, 1924, in Chicago, the son of William O. and Anna M. (nee Burcky) Roessler. He was united in marriage to Fern Norma Peterson on February 21, 1948, in Chicago. Bill graduated from Calumet High School in Chicago. He proudly served his country as a member of the Army Air Corps. He completed a course on pre-meteorology at the University of Chicago and later graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering. He worked for the Association of Mill & Elevator Mutual Insurance Companies (the Mill Mutuals), first as an engineer and later as general manager. In 1970, he started an employment agency for insurance personnel, the Insurance Register, where he served as president. Later in life, he enjoyed bicycling, gardening, walking, and spending time with his family. He loved talking with his neighbors and everyone he came across. He is survived by two children, Susan Ann (Daniel) Korb and William Ansel (Kimberly) Roessler Jr.; and four grandchildren, Emily Susan Korb, Andrew Daniel Korb, Kate Morgan Roessler, and Erin Madison Roessler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Fern, in 2003, and a sister, Doris A. Nielsen. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third Street, in St. Charles. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service with Pastor Jana Chwalisz officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Cemetery in St. Charles.
