Jeffery L. Patterson

Jeffery L. Patterson, 61, of Batavia died unexpectedly June 21, 2008, while aboard the Rhapsody of the Seas in route to Alaska, the result of a devastating heart attack. He was born in Aurora, Illinois, in 1946 and brought home by his adoptive parents, Kenneth and Fern Patterson. Jeff lived in Batavia all his life with the exception of a few years residence in rural Elburn. In 1964 he enlisted in the United State Air Force serving as part of a flight crew, with a tour of duty in Southeast Asia. In 1964, he met his future wife, Edith (Dee), through mutual friends. They were married in 1969 and would have celebrated 39 years of marriage in September of this year. Jeff is also survived by his children, Sharon (Santiago) Landeros of Sugar Grove and Cindy (Jason) DeWitt of Troy, IL; his in-law family, Rebecca and Rallis Wiesenthal of Chicago and their four young sons; an uncle, LaVerne Moore of Aurora, and several cousins and many special friends. At the time of his death, Jeff was employed by FirstStudent, allowing him to enjoy semi-retirement after many years work in the Machinist trade around the Valley and the opportunity to spend part of each morning with "The Coffee Gang" something he always looked foreword to. Jeff was a member of Batavia Lodge #404 AF&AM, the Batavia Methodist Church and DuKane A.B.A.T.E. He enjoyed motorcycle rides and the charitable function A.B.A.T.E engaged in, particularly the annual Toy Run. A visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Moss Family Funeral Home 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL. Following the visitation a service to celebrate Jeff's life will be held at 7:30 PM. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be directed to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children 2211 North Oak Park Ave. Chicago, IL 60635. "Mission Accomplished, Sir."
