Richard Lee Arndt

July 27, 1935 - February 1, 2017

Richard “Dick” Lee Arndt, 81, of Batavia, IL. formerly of LaPorte, IN. passed away on February 1, 2017 at Michaelsen Care Center of Batavia.  He was born July 27, 1935 the son of Howard and Marguerite (Kreidler) Arndt.  He was united in marriage to Jane Frances Bonislawski on June 8, 1963 in LaPorte, IN.

He was a 1954 graduate of LaPorte High School.  He was a member of the US Army from 1958 until 1960.  He worked for the Whirlpool Corporation for 36.5 years, retiring in 1994.  He enjoyed genealogy research and created several family tree albums.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer.

Dick is survived by his loving wife Jane, four children; Pam (Craig) Walsh, Deb (Chad) Smits, Darren (Michele) Arndt, Lori (Darren) DeGroff, grandchildren; Austin, Jared, Nolan, Holland, Ryan, Griffin, and Sydney, two sisters; Carol (Joe) Bozek and Dorothy (Arnold) Schoof, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bonnie McVay.

Memorial visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Holmstad Auditorium 700 W. Fabyan Parkway, Batavia, IL. 60510.  A memorial service will take place immediately following the visitation also at the Holmstad Commons Auditorium.   Interment will be at Patton Cemetery in LaPorte, IN later this spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to The Holmstad Benevolent Fund or the Holmstad Scholarship Fund 700 W. Fabyan  Parkway, Batavia, IL. 60510.
