Terry W. Starck

January 11, 1960 - July 9, 2017

Terry W. Starck, 57, of Batavia passed away July 9, 2017.  He was born January 11, 1960, in Oak Park, IL the son of Kenneth and Marilyn (Goelz) Starck.  He was united in marriage to Paulette Hadfield June 23, 1984 in Chicago, IL.

Terry was the most caring, gentile person anyone ever had the pleasure of meeting. His capacity for giving love was endless. Terry's family was his hobby; his wife Paulette, children, and granddaughters were his entire world. This was evident in how he would drop everything to help them at a moment's notice. We have shared millions of precious memories together, whether it was holiday traditions, unforgetable vacations, or even just being together at home trading (sometimes innapropriate) jokes.

Terry retired from air traffic control a year and a half ago after a successful career spanning over 31 years. Although he worked in such a high stress field, he never let that stress enter the doors of his home. Terry enjoyed his career so much, he recently returned to the same facility to train the next generation of air traffic controllers. He loved being back with some of his old gang of retirees.

We can't wait to share a huge bowl of popcorn with him in heaven one day.

Terry is survived by his wife Paulette; two daughters Elizabeth (Jeremy) McGinty of Sugar Grove and Valerie (Fiancé Jacob Johnsen of DeKalb) of Batavia; two granddaughters Gwendolyn and Isla McGinty; his mother Marilyn Starck; two brothers Thomas W. Starck and  Dr. Timothy W. (Kathy) Starck; many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father Kenneth Starck.

Visitation will be held 3:00 P.M until 7:00 P.M. Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Moss Family Funeral Home 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL.

Funeral services will begin with prayers 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 17, 2017, at Moss Family Funeral Home before proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church 1891 Kaneville Road Geneva, IL to celebrate Mass at 10:30 A.M.  Rev. Matthew McMorrow is the celebrant.

Memorial contributions in Terry’s memory may be directed to St. Jude’s Children Hospital

  • Thomas Lennon I worked for 30 years with Terry at Chicago Center as an Air Traffic Controller. I retired 2 years ago and was recently hired to instruct new controllers at the center. I was told that Terry was recently hired as well and I was looking forward to working with him and renew our friendship. He was so dedicated to the air traffic profession and highly respected by myself and his peers. He was always happy, smiling and just made the workplace a more enjoyable place.
