Barbara Ann Krivich

October 28, 1933 - July 13, 2017

Barbara Ann Krivich, 83, of Batavia and formerly of Hickory Hills, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Symphony at the Tillers in Oswego, IL.  Barbara was born on October 28, 1933 in Harvey, IL., the daughter of Fred and Cora (nee. Leeson) Hock.  She was united in marriage to the late Edward Krivich on January 14, 1956 in Chicago, IL.

Barbara’s life was defined by her pride and strength, unselfish devotion to her family and a tireless work ethic.  Alongside her husband Ed, they owned and operated a Tastee Freez for 36 years – first in Chicago and later in Hickory Hills.  After he died suddenly, she took a seasonal job at Carson Pirie Scott that launched a second career from which she retired after 21 years. Barbara went on to volunteer at Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora for 3 years until her health forced her to finally relax.

Barbara nurtured her relationships with many life-long friends, and thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people.   Whether she was making them a milkshake, helping them find a new outfit, or pointing a family member to a loved one’s hospital room, she did this with joy, compassion and grace.

Barbara is survived by her two children, Shelley Krivich and David (Melanie) Krivich; two granddaughters, Kendall and Cloe Krivich.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Edward, and her three siblings, Dora Stofferahn, George Hock and Charlie Hock.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, July 17, 2017 at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave. Batavia, Il. 60510.   All services and interment will be private.
