Betty Jean Vitali

August 29, 1932 - November 24, 2017

Betty Jean Vitali, age 85, of St. Charles, Illinois passed away peacefully with family at her side on November 24, 2017 at the Inspiration House in St. Charles.

Betty was born on August 29, 1932 in Langleyville, IL, a small coal mining town, where she was raised and graduated from Taylorville High School (1952). She attended St. John’s Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her nursing degree and spent most of her career as a private duty nurse. After marrying Leo Vitali from Langleyville in 1954, they eventually settled in St. Charles in 1965. She was a devout member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish. Betty was a caring individual, freely giving of her time to others. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her five children who were raised in St. Charles: Mark (Kary) Vitali, Sandra (David) Wagner, Lynn Vitali, Lori (Andy) Seddon and Lisa (Robert) Small. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Donna Castelli and her 10 grandchildren, Sarah (Brian Burkhart) Vitali, Stacy Vitali, Alexander (Kristin) Wagner, John Wagner, Joseph Vitali, David Small, Jessica Small, Kimberly Seddon, Michael Small and Hannah Seddon.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Leo four months ago, parents Louis and Mae Castelli, stepmother Katherine Castelli, brother Louis Castelli Jr., and brother Robert Castelli.The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Betty’s dedicated caregivers Gayle, Bella, John and all those who made her last days peaceful.

Visitation and Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 6N491 Crane Rd, St. Charles, IL, 60174 on Friday, December 1, 2017. Visitation is from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Prairie Cemetery, Crane Road, St. Charles, IL 60174.
