Rhoda Elizabeth Fritsch

January 20, 1942 - December 6, 2017

Rhoda Elizabeth Fritsch, 75, Sycamore, IL, passed away on December 06, 2017, at Michealsen Health Care in Batavia. She was born on January 20, 1942, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Hans V. and Carrie E. (nee Buck) Drotts. She was united in marriage to Albert “Al” Fritsch on October 17, 1964, in Chicago, IL. 

Rhoda was a Norwegian Rosemaler.  She began Rosemaling as a hobby, and as her work became more and more wanted she created it into a business.  Many of Rhoda’s bowls and plates were sold at different craft shows and a couple of her pieces are on display at the Norwegian American Museum in Decorah Iowa.  Rhoda had a strong conviction to her Christian faith.  She worshiped at the Batavia Covenant Church and was an active leader in Bible Study Fellowship. 

She is survived by her loving husband Albert “Al” Fritsch, her two daughters Carol (Ric) Hazel of Rock Falls, and Susan (Kevin) Jacobsen of Wheaton, IL; six grandchildren, Erin (Steven) Uecke, Ellyn (Jeff) Goodman, Shannon Jacobsen, and Kal Jacobsen, Josiah (Jenna) Hazel and Daniel (Emma) Hazel; three great-grandchildren, Zaiden and Auden Uecke and Jaxon Goodman, and a sister Ruby Hovda. 

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her siblings, Lois Seashore and Lester Drotts. 

Funeral services will be held 12:30 PM, Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Batavia Covenant Church, 1314 Main Street, Batavia, IL.  Visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon, at the Moss Family Funeral Home 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL.  Interment will follow the service at West Batavia Cemetery.
