Jeraldine Opal Goudy

October 16, 1925 - July 14, 2018

Jeraldine “Jeri” Opal Goudy, 92, formerly of Mt. Vernon, Iowa passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at Michaelson Care Center in Batavia, IL.  She was born on October 16, 1925 in Rock Island, IL., the daughter of Henry and Golda (nee. Steiner) Hinrichs.  She was united in marriage to William F. Goudy on January 30, 1947 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Jeri is survived by her two daughters; Andrea (Mary Johnson) Goudy of Batavia, IL, and Deborah (Richard) Goudy Ward of Bluffton, SC; one granddaughter, Angela (Thomas) Ward Wilson and two great granddaughters, Sophia and Chloe, of Cumming, GA; a sister-in-law, Pauline Randall of Springville and several nieces. Jeri was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

 Jeri graduated from Roosevelt High School class of 1944 in Cedar Rapids and attended Coe College. She worked at Cornell College as the secretary to the Vice President until 1971.  As a long time member of Linn Grove she sang In the choir, taught Bible School, and worked the famous annual suppers.  Jeri had a passion for bridge, gardening, golfing, decorating and cooking.  She enjoyed fishing with her husband and spending the cold winter months in Florida. An avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, Jeri never missed a home game. She will be sorely missed by her family and many friends.

 A visitation will be held at 9:30 followed by a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Linn Grove Presbyterian Church rural Mt. Vernon by the Rev. Carla Burge.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jeri’s name may be made to Linn Grove Presbyterian Church 2000 Linn Grove Road Mt. Vernon, Iowa 52314
