Florence Rebecca Olson

October 16, 1922 - November 25, 2018

Florence Rebecca Olson, 96, of Batavia, IL. passed away on Sunday November 25, 2018 at Michealsen Care Center in Batavia.  Florence was born on October 16, 1922 in Chicago, Il., the daughter of Otto and Rebecca (nee. Berg) Hedstrom.  She was united in marriage to Frank Olson on June 15, 1946 in Batavia, IL.

Florence was a life-long member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Batavia.  During WWII she passed on the opportunity to go to the University of Chicago, to assist with the war effort as a “Rosie the Riveter”.   For the remainder of her life she acted as a caregiver to family and friends.  She was a member of the Batavia Historical Society and VASA Viljan Lodge #349.

She is survived by her three daughters; Laurel (Larry) Larson, Sandra (Alan) Lambert and Patricia (Bart) Neri, six grandsons; Scott (Stephanie) Larson and James (Janel) Larson, Jason (Katie Crommett) Lambert and Matthew (Esmeralda) Lambert, Michael Neri and Joseph (Beth) Neri, six great grandchildren, Isabella, Lucy, Ander, and Atwood Larson, Juliann and Tommy Neri, and two great granddaughters on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband, Frank.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia, Il. 60510.  There will be a short visitation from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 8 S. Lincoln St. Batavia, Il. 60510.  Funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM also at the church.  Interment will be held privately at West Batavia Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Florence’s name may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church or the Batavia Historical Society.
