Carl Kenneth Stran

October 5, 1930 - November 30, 2018

Carl “Ken” Kenneth Stran, 88, of Geneva, Il., formerly of Batavia, Il., passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018 surrounded by his wife and sons, at Greenfields of Geneva.  Ken was born on October 5, 1930, in Aurora, Il., the son of George and Genevieve (nee. Freedlund).  He was united in marriage to Joyce Ann Tharrington on November 30, 1951 in Geneva, Il.

Ken was a lifetime member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Batavia. He was a Korean war Army Veteran, member of the Batavia VFW and the Geneva American Legion.  He was a master carpenter and enjoyed helping friends and family make improvements and repairs to their own homes. He was an avid fisherman and hunter with his sons. Ken and Joyce were world travelers, visiting numerous countries around the world with their friends the “Rinky-Dinks”.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Joyce Stran, his two sons; Jeff (Elizabeth) Stran, Tim (Kelli) Stran, his son in law, Don Schultze,  his four grandchildren; Emily (John) Crossman, Charley (Talia) Stran, Kourtney (Scott) Bodnar and Kayla (Drew) Kuhn, his six great grandchildren, his sister, Carmen(late David) Anderson  his two brothers; Bob (Judy) Stran and Bill (Melinda) Stran, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved daughter, Sue Schultze.    

A memorial visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday, December 7, 2018, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 8 S. Lincoln St., Batavia, Il. 60510.  A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM also at the Church.  Interment will be held at River Hills Memorial Park Batavia,IL at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Ken’s name may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church.
