Wilma N. Junas

February 15, 1937 - December 3, 2018

Wilma N. Junas, 81, of Elburn, passed away Monday, December 3, 2018, at Brighton Gardens, following a struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease.  Wilma was born February 15, 1937 in Wayne City, IL the daughter of Burl and Gladys (nee Butler) McCormick.  She was united in marriage to John Junas June 11, 1977 in Aurora, IL. 

Wilma was an active member of the former First Baptist Church of Batavia, now Chapelstreet Church.  Wilma was a long-time teacher at Gates Elementary School in Aurora.  Wilma loved children and teaching.  She will be remembered for the many student’s lives which were made a little better for her love, her passion for education and for her compassionate care she bestowed towards every child.  

She is survived by her husband John, four daughters Christine (Ken) Karp, Charlotte Hatch, Janet (Rick) Covarrubias and Joy (Mauro) Fortunato; eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; a brother Ches McCormick; and three sisters Betty (Lonnie) Hertenstien, Judy (Tom) Kissner, and Sharon Kissner and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sons Larry and Craig Junas and many siblings. 

Visitation will be held 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL.

Funeral services will be held private.  Interment will be in River Hills Memorial Park.
