Debra Stammet

August 20, 1962 - December 23, 2018

Debra (Hershey) Stammet of Elburn, IL entered eternal life Sunday, December 23, 2018, after an extensive and courageous battle with an autoimmune vascular disorder, Behcet’s. She was born August 20, 1962, to Beverley (nee Johnson) and DeWayne Hershey in St. Charles, IL.

Always an optimist, Debbie lived life to the fullest and found happiness in creating a warm and welcoming home for her family. A devoted mother, Debbie’s greatest joy was raising her children and watching them develop into kind, determined, and successful adults.  She was a passionate gardener who found immense joy spending time with her husband Mike in the greenhouse he built for her.  Debbie’s green thumb and creative designs cultivated a beautiful home oasis where she loved to spend her free time in the sunshine.  Friends and family of Debbie will forever cherish the beautiful creations she shared with them and take comfort knowing she is surrounded by an eternal and endless garden in Heaven.

Debbie is survived by her high school sweetheart, and husband, Mike with whom she reconnected later in life; four children, Michelle Wolff, Jack Wolff, Samantha Stammet and Shelby (Kevin Bell) Stammet, her mother Bev Clark, a sister Stephanie Haeffele as well as many extended family and friends who will forever mourn a life that ended far too soon.

She was preceded in death by her father DeWayne Hershey and step-father James Clark.

Visitation will be held 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Avenue Batavia, IL.  In honor of Debbie, please consider wearing flowerful clothing or flowers on your clothes to the services.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 28, 2018, at Moss Family Funeral Home.

  • Dan & Julie Radcliffe Deb was such a loving, kind, and brave woman. She was so very proud of her family and our family was fortunate to have been her friend. She hired two of our children to work for her, planted beautiful gardens outside our home, and treated our youngest son like one of her own. We are grateful her soul has found peace, but our hearts ache for you. Mike, Michelle, Jack, Samantha, & Shelby, may you take comfort in one another and in knowing that she was so very blessed by your love.
