Carol Sue Scott

January 25, 1941 - January 7, 2019

Carol Sue Scott, nee Hurd, went to be with the Lord on January 7th 2019. Carol was the loving wife of John (Jack) and mother of three children. She is survived by her husband, John, her daughter, Jennifer, her sons Jonathan and Allan, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. Carol and John recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Zola Hurd, two brothers and a sister. She is survived by her sister Joan in Mesa, Arizona.

Carol attended Bethel University and completed her BA in elementary education at North Central College in Naperville. She taught pre-school and was a substitute teacher. For many years she ministered at the Wayside Cross Mission in Aurora and, in her later years, volunteered at the Morton Arboretum gift shop and Delnor Hospital. She was a long time member of Chapelstreet Church (once First Baptist) of Geneva and took an active role in the ministry of that church as well as serving as a deaconess at First Presbyterian Church in Aurora for a time.

Carol also enjoyed singing with a number of choirs and groups in the area including the West Suburban Singers and the Naperville Chorus. Being a trained musician, she loved to sing the challenging music of Handel, Brahms, and Bach. She also loved to dabble in arts and crafts making numerous items for the home. She has fond memories also of trips to Hawaii and the west coast of Florida.

Any who wish to donate in her memory can make a donation to the Wayside ministries or to any breast cancer research fund. Carol will be missed by her family, but we rejoice in the fact that she is safe in the arms of Jesus.

Visitation will be held 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Moss Family Funeral Home 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL.  A private graveside funeral service will be held.
