Alan Vogler Blotch

March 14, 1927 - January 31, 2019

Alan V. Blotch, 91, of the Holmstad Retirement Community in Batavia, and formerly of Aurora, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Michaelson Health Care Center. Alan was born March 14, 1927, in Mendota, IL the son of Gilbert and Margaret (nee Vogler) Blotch. 

Alan was united in marriage to Grace Elouise Larson, from Mendota, in 1950, and they spent their 68 years together in Aurora and Batavia. 

Alan was raised in Mendota, IL where he graduated from Mendota High School.  Alan joined the United States Marine Corp at the end of WWII where he honorably served his beloved country.  Alan completed his college degree in engineering at North Central College in Naperville.  He enjoyed a successful career employed at Caterpillar for many years. 

He is survived by his two children Alan Blotch, Jenifer Fernandes; three grandchildren, Jacqueline, Gregory, and Michael; a sister Nancy Mayer, of Bringhurst, IN and many nieces and nephews.  

He is preceded in death by his, wife Grace and a daughter Marianne Blotch. 

Visitation will be held Friday February 8, 2019 from 12:00 P.M. until 1:30 P.M at Moss Family Funeral Home 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL. Funeral services will follow the visitation at the funeral home.  Interment will be in West Batavia Cemetery.

  • Karen Wood I remember Uncle Alan working on clocks and being amazed at how he could work with delicate and really, really small parts! I recently helped my mom move and one of the items was a mantel clock that he helped keep running, complete with his written instructions inside! I am sorry for your loss Jenifer.
