Marie J. Franczyk

July 6, 1928 - February 20, 2019

Marie J. Franczyk, 90, of St. Charles and formerly of Kingston, Elburn, Sycamore and Chicago passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, February 20, 2019.  She was born July 6, 1928 in Chicago, IL the daughter of William and Clara (nee Musialowicz) Runowski.  She was united in marriage to Joseph Franczyk February 14, 1953 in Chicago, IL. 

Marie was raised in Chicago before moving to Beverly at the age of 15.  She graduated for Lindblom High School then took some college course at the Chicago Art Institute.  Marie worked as a jack of all trades.  She took electrician classes in high school during the World War II which gave her talents outside of her career.  As a hard and motivated worker, she employed as an office worker, worked for Sears and Roebuck in the shipping and receiving, a match book manufacturing company, a printing company, the front desk at a hotel and eventually was a security guard of a 40-story building in Chicago, where she retired at the age 65.  A talented woman she enjoyed crocheting and knitting.  She also had a passion for the warm weather and sun; she enjoyed many trips to Arizona and Florida.  She will be remembered as being a warm loving mother, an adored grandmother and a friend to many. 

She is survived by her one daughter Cynthia (Antionio) Scarpitti; three grandchildren Kristina, Nicholas and Amanda Scarpitti; and many nieces and nephews.   

She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph; four brothers, Chester (Alice) Runowski, William Runowksi O.F.M., Leonard (Helen) Runowski and Joseph Runowski; a sister-in-law Stella (Wallace) Okoniewski, and Helen (Chester) Meske, and a brother-in-law Edward (Jean) Franczyk. 

Visitation will be held 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Moss-Norris Funeral Home 100 South Third Street St. Charles, IL. 

Funeral services will begin with prayers 9:30 A.M. Monday, February 25, 2019 from Moss-Norris Funeral Home before proceeding to St. Patrick Parish 400 Cedar Street St. Charles, IL to celebrate Mass at 10:00 A.M.  Committal services will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside. 

The family would like to thank Autumn Leaves of St. Charles, their entire staff, the many dedicated Caregivers, and volunteers who have taken great care of Marie and her family.
