Richard Willard Eckblade

February 11, 1943 - February 20, 2019

Richard “Rick” Willard Eckblade, 76, of Batavia, IL.  passed away on Wednesday February 20, 2019 at his home in Batavia.  Rick was born on February 11, 1943 the son of Willard and Grace (nee. Jensen) Eckblade.  He was united in marriage to Sandra J. Hansford, on September 12, 1964 in Batavia, IL.

He graduated from Batavia High School in the class of 1961.  He was the owner operator of his business, Eckblade Floor Covering for 30 years in Batavia, IL.  Rick was a firm believer in always giving something back and was involved with service  and civic groups in and around Batavia; he was a former Batavia School Board President, he was a member of the Batavia Police and Fire Commission, a member of the Batavia City Foundation, a member of the Batavia Moose Lodge, and a member of Aurora Turners Club.   His passion and favorite hobby was real estate developing, he loved to go fishing and he was an avid reader. After retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with family.

He is survived by his two children; Michael Eckblade and Ami (Warren) Strand, one grandson; James (Stephanie) Eckblade, and one great granddaughter; Grace Kelly Eckblade.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Sandra J. Eckblade, and sister Carole Jean Clark.

Memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on March 1, 2019, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL. 60510.  Interment will be held privately at River Hills Memorial Park at a later date. 

In Lieu of flower memorial donations in Richard’s name may be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation.

His life was well lived and he gave so much back to the Civic Groups and Service Groups he was involved in. He is in Heaven now with his Lord Jesus and his beloved wife Sandy and his family. May God give you peace and comfort at this time.
