Susan "Sue" L. O'Hara

February 12, 1945 - February 22, 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of Susan L. O’Hara (nee Weber) announces her death at age 74. She passed away peacefully and without pain into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the evening of February, 22 2019, at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, Illinois. Her loving husband, Jim, was by her side.

Sue was born in Aurora, Illinois, on February 12, 1945, to parents Ruth L. Weber (Shaver) and William R. Weber Jr. and lived most of her life in St. Charles.  She graduated from St. Charles High School in 1963 and went on to attend Eastern Illinois University. This is where she met the love of her life, Jim, whom she married on June 25th, 1966 at St. Patrick’s Church in downtown St. Charles.  Sue worked for CUSD #303 for 37 years as administrative assistant, first at Dunham Junior High and then at Thompson Middle School, where she worked until her retirement in 2010.  Sue was known for her compassion, kindness, and perseverance during a variety of difficult health challenges.  She passed along her love of education to her two daughters, who both work locally in the field of special education.

Sue is survived by her husband of 52 years, James J. O’Hara, and two daughters; Kelly O’Hara of Carpentersville, and Nancy O’Hara, of Elgin.  She is also survived by her aunt and uncle, William (Marilyn) Shaver of California, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  In addition, Sue was a loving pet owner and pet grandmother to many furry babies over the years.

Sue was preceded in death by her younger brother James Weber, her parents, aunt Elizabeth Shaver, and her older brother William R. Weber, III.

The family would like to extend their deep gratitude and appreciation to the entire 3 South team at Delnor Hospital, including in-patient hospice staff, transport staff, patient care technicians, and nursing staff. They all provided exceptional, personalized care, not only to their patient Sue, but to her family as well.  They are forever grateful for the love and support shown during this difficult time.
