Ronald William Dakan

September 22, 1930 - March 16, 2019

Ronald “Big Ron” William Dakan passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019 in South Elgin. He was the son of William and Frances (nee. Milner) Dakan on September 22, 1930 in Beaver City, NE. He was united in marriage to his loving wife Carole A. Gordon on August 4, 1956.

Ron was a US Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War from  1947 through 1951.  Ron worked for the city of Batavia as a lineman for twenty-five years. Once he retired, he enjoyed fishing on his property overlooking the beautiful Fox River. If he wasn’t fishing, he was enjoying his time at the Casino or playing poker and pool at the club house with his wife.

He is survived by; his loving wife of sixty-two years, four children; Anne (Jack) Melka, Garry (Kelly) Dakan, Cindy Cooper, Amy Dakan, three grandchildren; Michael (Michele) Dakan, Ashlee Dakan, Tyrus Taylor, great-grandchildren; Ellie, Joey; and one sister.

He is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Tiffany Taylor, and several brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M until 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S Batavia Ave, Batavia, IL 60510 followed by the service at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow at River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia, IL.
