Georgia F. Buidosik

December 27, 1928 - July 1, 2019

Georgia Buidosik, 90, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on July 1, 2019.  She was born on December 27, 1928 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Steve and Stella (nee Beneos) Kategianis. She was the 4th born of 5 children raised by immigrant parents from Greece who came to Chicago to raise their children and also operated and owned three restaurants in Chicago.

Georgia married Robert F. Porcelius on January 29, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois.  The couple spent 19 years together building a beautiful family of three children and creating a lifetime of memories.  After Robert’s sudden passing in 1969, Georgia found love again and married George J. Buidosik on May 5, 1975 in Riverside, Illinois.

Georgia was employed by McNeal Hospital and retired in 1993, where she and George spent 18 beautiful years in their dream home located in Holiday, Florida. George passed away in April of 2011, and in May of 2011, Georgia moved in with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson to Illinois, where she lived happily ever after, enjoying a fulfilled and fun-filled life surrounded by constant love. She even celebrated her 90th birthday on an 8-day Caribbean cruise! Georgia’s love for her family, a happy life, her witty charm and magnificent smiles, made all those around her happy and feeling blessed just to know her.

Georgia is survived by her children Janice (Mark) Gendron and Steven (Janet) Porcelius; grandchildren Cameron Gendron, Steven Porcelius Jr., Nicholas Porcelius (Katie); two great grandchildren; brother Nick Kategianis (Arlene), and many loving nieces and nephews who simply adored their Aunt G.

Georgia joins in Heaven her parents Steve and Stella Kategianis, husbands Robert Porcelius and George Buidosik, her son William Porcelius, and three sisters, Antonia, Julia and Mary.

All services will be held privately in Florida.  The family suggests memorial contributions to Alzheimer’s Association at https://alz.org/ or Rainbow Hospice & Palliative Care at https://rainbowhospice.org/.
