Donald E. McElmeel

October 17, 1937 - October 5, 2019

Donald E. “Don” McElmeel, 81, of Batavia, IL., passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019 surrounded by his family at Edwards Hospital in Naperville, IL.  Don was born October 17, 1937 in Chicago, Il., the son of Stephen J. and Mary Helen (nee. Weiland) McElmeel.  He was united in marriage to Janice Lee Sturz on September 17, 1994 in Glen Ellyn, Il.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Janice L. McElmeel; his three children, Brian (Eileen) McElmeel, Greg (Jackie) McElmeel and John McElmeel; his six grandchildren, Kevin (Kara) McElmeel, Ryan (Sonya) McElmeel, Shannon McElmeel, Kaitlyn (Chris Ponicki) Gallas, Maegan McElmeel and Joey McElmeel; and one great grandchild, Ashlyn McElmeel, two sisters, Dolores (Ed) Sidwell and Maryann Sklaney; and one brother, Kenneth (Pam) McElmeel; Sister-in-law, Sharon McElmeel

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Mary McElmeel; his son, Joseph McElmeel; his siblings, Frances McElmeel, Stephen McElmeel and Dennis McElmeel.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  on Friday, October 11, 2019 at Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. 3rd. Street, St. Charles Il. 60510.  Funeral services will begin at 9:45 A.M. on Saturday, October 12, 2019 with prayers at the funeral home.  A funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 A.M. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 Main St., Batavia, IL. 60510.  Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Hillside, IL.

Memorial donations, in Don’s name may be made to the following, Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry, American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
