Francis "Bill" William Hartman

June 13, 1950 - October 11, 2019

Francis “Bill” William Hartman Jr., 69, passed away suddenly on October 11, 2019 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva from a pulmonary embolism. Bill was born on June 13, 1950 to Francis Sr. and Phyllis (nee Ingalls) Hartman in Lafayette, IN. He was married to the love of his life, Elizabeth “Betsy” L. Thorne, on June 22, 1997 at the Congregational Church of Batavia.

Bill and Betsy spent 22 wonderful love-filled years as husband and wife and as the best of friends. Bill spent most of his working life at Coors Brewing Company and at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt where he made many great and lifelong friendships. After retirement, Bill and Betsy took road trips driving across the US, going on cherished adventures together. All of their trips and any other remaining time home was designed around visiting and spending time with their adoring children and grandchildren.

Bill leaves behind his wife Betsy, his mother Phyllis, his children: Russ Montanio (Jennifer); Tyson Pfeifer; Tori Coyne (Jim); Erin Hartman Shannon (Mike); Jennifer Hamer (Jeremy); his grandchildren: Ryan and Raeann Montanio; Jack Coyne; Nikki, Tyler, Aislin and Patrick Shannon; Nolan and Haley Hamer; and his siblings: Beth Hastings; Cyndee Patzer; Terrie Huggins.

Francis is preceded in death by his father, Francis William Hartman Sr., and his brother, Dwight Hartman.

A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 from 4:00PM – 7:00PM at Moss Family Funeral Home in Batavia. A celebration of life will be held promptly at 7:00PM.
