Linda Lea Ahlgren

November 20, 1953 - March 3, 2020

Linda Lea Ahlgren, 66, of Batavia, IL. passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at her home in Batavia, IL.   Linda was born on November 20, 1953, in St. Charles, IL., the daughter of Joseph and Patricia (nee. Lee) VerVynck.  She was united in marriage to William B. Ahlgren on April 30, 1972, in Wayne, IL.

Linda was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be missed by many. Linda’s cornerstone of life was one of her family, friends, and whomever she interacted. She was active with volunteering at Marklund in Geneva and a foster failure with Safe Haven Dog Rescue, where she found her Gordon.

Linda will be remembered for always being herself, her love of her family, friends, and dogs. Her love of gardening and her green-thumb shone through in many gardens beside her own.  She was always there to add beauty to gardens of family and friends and will be cherished by everyone whom she helped navigate “is it a weed” as she had a never-ending love of pulling weeds and ensuring a garden thrive.

Linda was her grandchildren’s biggest fan, spending time sharing their many activities, including softball, wrestling, dance, making jewelry, t-shirts, slime, and other crafts.  When she wasn’t spending time with her grandchildren or at home, she was spending time with her mother, whom she loved deeply.  Her greatest love, however, was her husband, who spent their retirement together spotting unique birds, hiking around Nelson Lake, and cheering for the Chicago Cubs & Blackhawks.  Her absence leaves a huge, empty space in so many hearts. Although her suffering has ended, she is missed incredibly. She graced her “never give up” attitude upon everyone she met when faced with her life’s greatest challenge, cancer, which remains a source of inspiration to everyone. The legacy known as “Baba” will continue in our hearts.

Linda is survived by her loving husband of 47 years,  William Ahlgren, her two daughters, Aria Ahlgren and Kelley (Rob) Peragine; four grandchildren, Lillie, Ava,  William Lindgren, and Gianna Peragine; her mother, Patricia VerVynck; one sister, Heidi (Terry) Jensen; three brothers, James (Kerry) VerVynck, Robert (Sheryl) VerVynck and Kenneth (Patti) VerVynck; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Joseph VerVynck and her nephew Adam VerVynck.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on a future date.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fox Valley Food For Health, who helped tremendously at www.foxvalleyfoodforhealth.org.  Fox Valley Food For Health’s mission is to promote a nutrition-focused community through teen education and serving those struggling with a health crisis.
