Richard A. Dodd

August 29, 1960 - August 14, 2020

Richard A. Dodd passed away suddenly and much too soon on August 14, 2020 in Downers Grove.  He was born on August 29, 1960 to Howard P. and Delida (nee Carosilli) Dodd in the town of Summit, New Jersey.

He was married to Shelley A. Krause on October 15, 2005 in Independence, Missouri.

After receiving his B.S. in chemistry at UIC, he began his career as a formulator of inks and coatings for the graphic arts industry.

Richard had a lifelong love of trains, a definite ‘foamer’ with a special interest in the history and pursuit of long abandoned sites of both third rail and narrow gauge railways. He was a talented amateur machinist and modeler of trains, depots, and architectural structures, every one of which he made from scratch or completely modified with his own creative stamp.

He was an avid bike rider and enjoyed the freedom he felt while traveling the local Illinois Prairie Path trails.

Richard leaves behind his wife, Shelley of Geneva, his son Max A. Dodd of Mesa, Arizona, and his brother Scott Dodd of Jackson, New Jersey.

He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Delida Dodd.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either the East Troy Railway Museum  (www.easttroyrr.org) or the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago (https://epilepsychicago.org/).
