Joseph E. Griessler

February 8, 1934 - September 28, 2020

Joseph E. Griessler, 86, of Elgin and formerly of Batavia passed away Monday, September 28, 2020 at The Sheridan at Tyler Creek in Elgin.  Joseph was born February 8, 1934 in St. Louis, MO the son of Joseph Michael and Zelia (nee Thery) Griessler.  Joseph was united in marriage June 18, 1955 in Cicero, IL. 

Joseph was an avid world traveler and shared those memories with his adored wife Arlene.  He was a devoted family man who put family first and loved having large family gatherings.  He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing.  He was accomplished at playing the accordion.  Following his love for music he and Arlene were members of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra for many years.  In his spare time, he loved to work with his hands doing projects around the house, maintaining his home and even became a hobbyist of model train sets.  In Joe’s early years he served as one of the youngest Conductors for the Pennsylvania Railroad in Chicago. 

He is survived by his , three children Joseph (Jan) Griessler, Suzanne (Norman) Lebavitz and Glen (Joann) Griessler; eight grandchildren, Lisa (Anthony) Medina, Joseph (Danielle) Griessler, Adam (Michelle) Lebavitz, Steven Lebavitz, William (Kaycee) Lebavitz, Anna Lebavitz, Daniel (Kimberlee) Burhans, Michael (Anna) Burhans, nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his wife Arlene, and two sisters Evelyn Schultz and Janet Doucette.

All funeral services will be held private.
