George Michael Carey

June 23, 1934 - October 1, 2020

George Michael Carey, 86, of Batavia passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving and adored family.  George was born June 23, 1934 in Chicago, the son of Robert and Angela (Kammes) Carey.

George worked at and retired from White Brothers Trucking.  He was an active member of the Tiger, Phoenix, Vikings, and Turners Club as well as the Moose and VFW.  He was also in the U.S. Army Armed Forces. 

He is survived by his loving wife Carol (Moser) Carey, two children Daniel (Hollie) Carey and Lori (Louie) Lee; three step-children, Amy (Frank) Theis, Jeff Babbitt, and Mark (Lyn) Babbitt; his grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew, Joshua, Ashley, Emily, Ellyn, Connor, Jeffrey and Max; and his siblings David (Laura) and Robert (Angela) Carey and Susan (Richard) Ayers; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Mary Ann (nee Devereaux) and a brother Charles. 

Visitation will be held 9:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Moss Family Funeral Home 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 1820 Church Road Aurora, IL.  Interment will follow the Mass at River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia, IL.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions of occupancy, the visitation will be limited. All visitors entering the funeral home are required to wear a face covering.  Be prepared to wait outside if occupancy becomes an issue. Due to the number of people who would like to pay their respects, we ask that you make your visitation a brief one.  The family appreciates your sincere cooperation during these very challenging and difficult times
