Anne P. Bishop

November 14, 1924 - December 10, 2020

Anne P. Bishop, 96, passed away on December 10, 2020 in DeKalb, IL. She was born, Isabel Anne Porter, on November 14, 1924 to Russell Woods and Irene McGregor (nee Keith) Porter in Springfield, MA. Anne was an only child and described herself as a tomboy growing up. She spent most of her childhood years living in New Jersey.

Anne was a graduate of Smith College in Northampton, MA where she received her BA in Art in 1947. After graduation she attended the Katharine Gibbs School where she learned advanced secretarial skills. She worked as a secretary for a few years before she met & married Glen S. Bishop Sr. on May 30, 1953. They settled in Basking Ridge, NJ until 1966 when they moved to St. Charles, IL.

Anne was a homemaker & beloved mother to their three children. She also did volunteer work at Delnor Hospital in St. Charles and was an active participant of the St. Charles Congregational Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and participated in many volunteer activities. After her children left the nest she took a position with the Swingset Nursery School in St. Charles as a pre-school aide where she was worked until her retirement. She loved working with children.

Anne enjoyed doing arts & crafts. In addition to painting she was a prolific knitter, creating custom sweaters for friends & family as well as knitting shawls for the prayer shawl ministry at church. Anne was also a gifted pianist. Anne will be best remembered for her incredible love. She had an open heart and she gave love freely to everyone throughout her entire life. Anne is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She leaves her children Glen S. (JoAnn) Bishop Jr., Katherine P. (Tom) Burke and Russell P. (Debbie) Bishop; and three grandchildren Christian Bishop, Grace Bishop and Jordan Burke.

Due to COVID all services are limited to immediate family. Internment will take place at Garfield Cemetery.
