Donita Lucille Vester

April 29, 1934 - December 20, 2020

Donita Lucille Vester (Corneils), 86 of Aurora passed away December 20, 2020 at Bright Oaks in Aurora, surrounded by her family and with her rosary in her hand. She was born April 29th, 1934 in Aurora, the daughter of the late Clarence and Marie (Kackert) Corneils.

Donita was a 1952 graduate of Madonna High School, and went on to earn her Bachelors of Science in Education at the Northern Illinois State College in DeKalb Illinois, 1956. After college, Donita served the armed services as an Army wife at Fort Knox, KY. There she started her family. Donita would soon return to the Aurora area and grow her family, living in North Aurora on Hilltop Drive for over 50 years.

Donita was hired as a teacher in the Aurora Schools in 1969.  Donita initially substituted in West Aurora Dist. 129, but felt the calling for full time.  She soon became a full-time first grade teacher at Schneider and then a third grade teacher at Nicholson. She really loved her West Side family, but her true love was the East Side where she grew-up on Second Avenue.  In 1978, she was hired full time at Oak Park School in East Aurora Dist 131 where she would stay until her retirement in 2002. Retirement did not hamper her enthusiasm for teaching and she continued as a substitute teacher in both the West and East Aurora schools until she was 81. During the summer months, Donita often taught Summer School at West Aurora, East Aurora and Mooseheart.

In October 1970, Donita married her true love Richard Vester. In 1986 they renewed thier vows in a Catholic ceremony, led by Father Jack Herrity at the Mooseheart House of God. She was a member of the Mooseheart Church and Batavia’s Holy Cross Church.

Donita’s true enjoyment was the holidays and spending time with her family. She is known to have over a dozen decorated Christmas Trees in her home on Hilltop Drive and she loved spreading the Christmas Spirit.  She is survived by her sons, Michael (Jodi White) Lirot of St Charles, Corbin (Debbie) Lirot of Batavia, Chris (Kathy) Lirot  of Aurora and her stepsons, Richard (Toni) Vester  of North Aurora, Jonathan Vester of DeKalb and Adam Vester of Adams-Friendship, WI. She has many Grandchildren, James Lirot of San Antonio, TX, Marcel Lirot of Alexandria, VA, Ryan (Katie) Vester of North Aurora, Sarah (Erik) Paulson of North Aurora, Justin Lirot of Chicago, Brian Lirot of Chicago, Tina Lirot of Batavia, David Vester of Dekalb, Sean Lirot, Benn Lirot, and Troy Lirot of Aurora and Kylie Vester of Montgomery.

Donita was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Richard Vester.

A private chapel service will be held at Moss Funeral Home in Batavia,  followed by a graveside service  at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions to the Fischer Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation NY, NY.  Follow this link to enjoy additional photos of Donita
