Diana Rene Metz

June 30, 1964 - February 4, 2021

Diana Rene Metz, 56, of Batavia passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021.  She was born June 30, 1964 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of David and Donna (Peterson) Camren.  She was united in marriage to John Metz July 11, 1987 in Elwin, IL.

A loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and grandma, she was a strong, beautiful but humble person with a servant’s heart.  She always seemed to find those people who were on the margins or edges to befriend and care for, touching so many lives with a tender love.  Her smile and laugh brought light to whomever she was with.  Her love of her family and friends was a priceless gift.  Her quiet but firm faith in God and her Savior, Jesus Christ, showed in all she did, as she witnessed to all those around her with her actions much more than her words.  She loved serving in children’s ministries especially as a Sunday school teacher for many years at Batavia United Methodist Church (BUMC), as a children’s leader and board in Bible Study Fellowship than as a teacher with the Parent’s Day Out program at BUMC and at Gingercare Christian Academy Preschool.  She loved working in her yard, flowerbeds, and garden.  She also enjoyed hiking, bicycling, swimming, kayaking, and canoeing most often with her family on vacations to numerous places.  One of her favorite places was western Michigan spending time there almost every summer with her husband and children on the beaches and picking blueberries.  She leaves behind a legacy of love of family, her Lord and others that will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.

She is survived by her husband John; three children Valerie (Dan) Clark, Danny Metz, and Edison Metz; two grandchildren, Camren and Darla Jean Clark; her parents David and Donna Camren; Deb (Tim) Anderson; two nephews Mike and Matt Anderson; a brother-in-law Greg (Jane) Metz, and three nieces Lauren (Nicholas) Landiak, and Elle (Tyler) Walters and Amanda (Sam) Owen; and nephew John Metz as well as her aunts, uncles, cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews.
