Allison Katherine Hurley

July 26, 1985 - February 7, 2021

Allison Katherine Hurley, 35, of Aurora, Il., formerly of Chicago and Orland Park, Il., passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021, surrounded by her family.  Allison was born on July 26, 1985, in Oak Lawn, IL., the daughter of Howard and Mary (nee. Reynolds) Hurley.  She was united in marriage to Michael John Harter on July 26, 2019, in Oak Brook, IL.

Allison will be remembered for her kind heart, dedicated spirit, and unparalleled capacity for love. She was capable of making everyone feel cared for; forever supportive, despite all our flaws; and fiercely loyal to those she loved. Her beauty, both inside and out, was undeniable. Regardless of how difficult life got, she always presented a spirit that inspired hope. Her smile had a way of making you feel at home as if there was no place in the world any more important. Allison was a better friend than we could have ever hoped for; the world is truly a brighter place because of her impact.

She found her life’s work in teaching. It is impossible to articulate how inspirational Allison was to her students and fellow teachers. That she was a champion of all students, especially the underserved, is but one of the many bright lights shining of her legacy.

Allison is survived by her loving husband, Michael Harter; her parents, Howard and Mary Hurley; her two sisters, Meghan (Kwasi) Amankwah and Lisa (Mike) Nucci; her father-in-law, Bill Harter, her niece, Sienna Nucci; her two nephews, Lincoln and Wylder Amankwah.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her Mother-in-law, JoAnne Harter.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia, Il. 60510.  A graveside service will be held at a later date.
