Kenneth Lloyd Piche

January 5, 1924 - March 23, 2021

Kenneth Lloyd Piche, 97, passed away on March 23, 2021, at Michaelsen Health Center in Batavia, Illinois. He was born on January 5, 1924, in Fox Lake, Illinois, son of Fred Piche and Pauline (Hendricks) Piche, preceded in death by his parents.

Ken is survived by the love of his life and wife of 67 years, Marian (nee Fitzgibbons) Piche, daughter, Cheryl (John) McGuirk, of Broomfield, Colorado, daughter Suzanne (Tom) Larry, of Leesburg, Virginia, David (Ewa) Piche, of Chicago, Illinois, and Kathy Piche of Burbank, California, brothers, Don Piche of La Habra, California, and Bob (Joan) Piche, of Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Ken has seven grandchildren, Brian (Becky) McGuirk of Longmont, Colorado, Michael (Kathryn) McGuirk of Boulder, Co, Caitlin McGuirk of Denver, Colorado, Eva (Andy) White of Solvang, CA, Elizabeth Sanchez of Los Angeles, CA, Joe Larry of Washington, D.C., and Dan (Olivia) Larry of Leesburg, VA; and six great grandchildren: Jack, Townes, Quinn, Myles, Dylan, and Hayes.

Ken was a devout Catholic and longstanding, active member of Sacred Heart Parish in Lombard. In addition, he was a decorated WWII veteran with the second Army Air Corps. He proudly piloted B-25’s on multiple missions during the war. After the war, he attended Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois. Ken worked for many years as an accountant for Jewel Tea Company, then a stockbroker for Paine Weber in Oakbrook, Illinois.  Ken was a member of the Lombard Jaycees, Lions Club, Stock Club, and a dedicated volunteer for United Way. He also sponsored needy children abroad, was a classroom educator of WWII history, and a proud member of the West Suburban Clown Club. Ken was also known as Snickers the clown and loved nothing more than telling jokes and making others laugh! All he ever asked for in return was a “kind word and a smile”.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL.  Funeral services will follow the visitation with a prayer from the funeral home at 12:30 P.M. before traveling to Holy Cross Catholic Church 2300 Main Street Batavia to celebrate Mass at 1:00 P.M.  Interment and military honors will be conducted at 11am Friday, March 26, 2021 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
