Dolores M. "Bud" Anderson

April 1, 1911 - November 23, 2011

Dolores M. “Bud” (nee Walatka) Anderson, of Batavia, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Pine View Care Center in St. Charles after a short illness.   “Bud” as she was called by her family and friends, was a graduate of Batavia High School and Northern Illinois University with a degree in Education.  After deciding teaching was not her calling she spent several years in the fashion industry. “Bud” was known for her great sense of humor, her tenaciousness and her big heart.  Her years of devotion to her parents, she husband, her two sisters and her mother-in-law, Gertrude “Tillie” Anderson in their prolonged illnesses, will long be remembered by those who knew her.   She is probably wise-cracking with the angels in her new home right now. She is survived by her niece, Merre Lynn Hare o Yellville, Arkansas, and several grand-nieces and grand nephews.  Also, a very close friend, Vi Hunt Gura, of Sun City Center, Florida; friends since kindergarten recalls “Bud” and all the fun they had as students at Batavia High School and Northern Illinois University when “Bud” was well known for her cheer leading and popularity.   She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Anderson, her parents, Mary and John Walatka, two sisters, Bertha Zuehl Miller and Ella Zuehl, her niece Sandra Zuehl Frega and a nephew Robert Zuehl.  Visitation will be held 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Monday, November 28, 2011 at Moss Family Funeral Home 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL.   Funeral Services will begin from the funeral home at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 29, 2011 before proceeding to Holy Cross Catholic Church 2300 Main St. Batavia, IL to celebrate Mass at 10:30 A.M. Interment will follow at River Hills Memorial Park.

  • Barbara Gebes Kalina Growing up in Batavia, Bud's name as well as those of her sisters, niece Sandra and nephew Robert were often heard in reference to community affairs. Those people were a part of my growing up in Batavia. They helped to give Batavia a special flavor, a warmth that our busy lives preclude today. We are all richer for having known them. We, as you, will miss their presence and their influence.
  • G.Ford I am so sorry for your loss. May "the God of all comfort" (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) comfort and soothe your heart. His promises, found in the Holy Scriptures, can offer much hope. It assures us at John 5:28,29 that our loved ones will be remembered and brought back to life in the resurrection. Please allow God's Word to strengthen you and help you to endure this most difficult time.
