Arnold Adolph Goetze

Arnold Adolph Goetze, 71, of Elgin and formerly of St. Charles passed away Friday, April 27, 2012 at Tower Hill Healthcare Center in South Elgin, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born September 25, 1940 in Geneva, IL the son of Adolph and Gladys (nee Mielke) Goetze. He was united in marriage to Regina Szydlowska March 30, 1998 in Geneva. Arnold was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Arnold was notably proud to be a veteran and was extremely patriotic as well as very proud of his German heritage. He had many hobbies and loves throughout his life and continued to be adventurous. He most enjoyed riding his motorcycle or spending time with family and friends enjoying food, beverages and music. Arnold was employed by Moline Malleable Iron Co. as a sales engineer for several years and was later employed by Kane County Fair Grounds. He is survived by his wife Regina; four children Karl (Tammy) Goetze, Gretchen (Bob) Heim, Kurt (Karen) Goetze and Heidi Lewis; his two step-sons Rafal (Violetta) Jaslowski and Dariusz (Marta) Jaslowski; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; a sister Marlene (Chuck) Black and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Moss-Norris Funeral Home 100 South Third Street St. Charles, IL. A funeral service will be held at 5:00 P.M. following the visitation. Private interment will take place in River Hills Memorial Park.

I first met Arnie the summer of 1969 at Moline Malleable and later got reaquainted in the 90's and went on several short motorcycle trips. I'll miss his great stories. Godspeed Arnie. I'll keep you both in my prayers Regina.

Arnie was one of the first guys I met when I came to St. Charles in 1948. We were in Scouts together (Troop 1) and served in Germany during the same years in the Army. His parents treated my like one of their kids and I have many good memories of our days at Evan Shelby. So long, Buddy!
