Michael Lech, age 67, passed away Friday, June 15, 2012 at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, IL. He was born January 4, 1945 in Chicago, IL, the son of Michael and Betty (nee Krajcovic) Lech. He was united in marriage to Sandra Sztuczko on October 25, 1969.
Michael was born in Chicago IL and was raised by his mother Betty with the help of his grandma Emily. His mother wanted a male influence in his life so she sent him to Park Ridge Military Acadamy where Michael graduated at the top of his class. He went on to attend Lane Tech High School in Chicago, IL. After high school, he attended Northern Illinois University for one year and then transferred to Roosevelt University where he obtained his bachelors degree in psychology.
His first jobs were working in grocery stores and this was where he eventually met his soulmate, Sandra Sztuczko, in the fall of 1965 at Jewel in Des Plaines, IL. They met in the cookie aisle and he loved to say that “it was love at first bite!” They went on to marry in the Fall of 1969 and resided in Chicago in the Logan Square neighborhood. He settled in Saint Charles in 1973 where he built a home and his life with Sandra. Michael had two children here, Chad and Jennifer.
Eventually Michael, along with his wife, formed a sales and marketing company which has been in existence for 27 years. He worked in this business until he died. Although he worked very hard to establish and maintain the business he often stated that he loved the flexibility of his schedule which allowed him to be at important events with his family whom he always put first.
As he grew older he dreamed of traveling more with his wife. Although he didn’t get to do as much as he wanted, he did take the trip of his lifetime to Alaska in July of 2010.
He was an amazing husband, loved being a father, and adored his grandchildren. Michael was a devout Christian and at peace with God.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra of St. Charles; his children, Chadwick (Stacey) Lech of Pingree Grove, IL and Jennifer (Evan) Jones of Sycamore, IL; and grandchildren, Sophia Lech and Ashley and Alexander Jones.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents.
