Elizabeth Mary Mertka

January 15, 1934 - June 29, 2012

Elizabeth “Betty” Mary Mertka, 78, of Batavia passed away Friday, June 29, 2012 at Arden Courts of Geneva.  She was born January 15, 1934 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Peter and Angela (nee D’Alessandro) Capriglione.  She was united in marriage to Leo Mertka October 14, 1961 in Chicago, IL.  She is survived by her two sons Bill (Susan) Mertka and David Mertka; three grandchildren Alyssa, Peter and Sophie; one sister Judi (Bill) Biagi; and two brothers Frank and Nick (Juanita) Capriglione.  She is preceded in death by her husband Leo who passed away August 1, 2011; she was also preceded by six siblings, Rae Michelsen, Mary Capriglione, Elsie Mikels, Peter “Bud” Capriglione Jr., Anthony “Tots” Capriglione, and Carmella Rector.  Visitation will be held 4-8 P.M. Monday, July 2, 2012 at Moss Family Funeral Home 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL.  Funeral services will begin with prayers from the funeral home at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 3, 2012 before proceeding to Holy Cross Catholic Church 2300 West Main Street Batavia, IL to celebrate Mass at 10:30 A.M.  Interment will follow at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Naperville, IL.
