Andrew Stuckey

December 27, 1920 - August 20, 2012

Andrew Stuckey, age 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 20, 2012 at his residence in Geneva.  He was born December 27, 1920 in Orlando, FL, the son of Edward and Vera Mae (nee McClenton) Stuckey.  He was united in marriage to Marcelle Hergel on August 9, 1946 in Paris, France. After World War II, Andrew was stationed in France. He first came to know Marcelle from a portrait of her displayed in the window of a photographer’s studio in Vesoul. He then spotted her at a dance hall called Salle Stella and asked her to dance. She was swept off her feet, and as they say in Hollywood, “the rest was history.” The amusing irony of this meeting is that neither liked or knew how to dance. Marcelle always claimed that she went there for the food; for Andrew it wasn’t the food (as he was sufficiently fed army standard grub) but the allure of the local women. On August 9th, Andrew and Marcelle celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.  What a voyage! He is survived by his beloved wife, Marcelle; his daughters, Francoise (Frank) Domingo of Henderson, CO, Martine (Robert Buitron) Stuckey of Geneva, and Natacha (James) Martinez of Peyton, CO; his grandchildren, Jason, Meghan, Devon, and Landen; a great-grandson, Tyree; his sisters, Beulah, Shirley, and Charlotte; his brother, Horace; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. In addition to his parents, Andrew is preceded in death by his daughter, Chantal Stuckey; his sister, Delores, and his brother, Calvin Wade.Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 11:45 A.M., Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third Street (three blocks west of the river and one block south of Rt. 64) in St. Charles.  A prayer service will follow the visitation at 11:45 A.M. at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva.

  • Darline Mains-Ritchey Our family is saddened by the passing of our Uncle Andrew. He will always be with us in our hearts and our memories. Because of miles between us, our families didn't see each other often enough which makes us so thankful for the wonderful and lasting memories of times we did have. Good bye Uncle Andrew. You will be missed by so many. Our love and thoughts are with Aunt Marcelle and all the family. Darline & Terry Ritchey, Kristoff, Sidney & Tony Stephens, Jordan, Dominique
