Mildred J. Jones

February 16, 1921 - September 2, 2012

Mildred J. Jones, 91, of North Aurora, formerly of Batavia, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva. She was born on February 16, 1921 in Taylor, FL, the daughter of Aaron and Elvia (nee Taylor) Dowling. She was united in marriage to John P. Jones on July 13, 1943 in Starke, FL. Mildred was known as a family woman. Her family meant more to her than anything else. She loved to host family gatherings and entertain with her home cooked, southern style meals. She showed her love and compassion for family through her cooking. She had numerous hobbies through the years, including needlework, crocheting, and playing card games.  She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis (Paul) Burnett of North Aurora; her grandson, Thomas (Robin) Burnett of Montgomery; two great-grandchildren, Clayton and Jocelyn; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John P. Jones; a son, William Jones; two brothers, W.B. Dowling and Thomas Dowling; and three sisters, Dorothy Bullock, Helen Scoggins, and Vernice Dowling. A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, September 7, 2012 at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., in Batavia. Visitation will be held from 10 A.M. until the time of service. Interment will be private.
