Ronald B. McConnaughay

October 27, 1940 - September 24, 2012

Ronald Bowling McConnaughay, age 71, of Chicago, Illinois passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012 in Batavia, Illinois.  He was born on October 27, 1940 in Saint Charles, Illinois, the son of James Marcus McConnaughay and Mary Florence Bowling. Ron attended Batavia High School in Batavia, Illinois.   He was united in marriage to Anne Marie Messmer on January 20, 1970. They were married for over thirty years and together had two wonderful children and four grandchildren.  Ron lived life to the fullest.  He was a serial entrepreneur who loved to create businesses and help others control their own destiny.   Spending time with family and friends, traveling, enjoying nature, being active outdoors, swimming, and golf were what Ron enjoyed most.  He is survived by his two children, four grandchildren, a sister and three brothers and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Norma; and two brothers, William (Bill) and James Opert. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. and a memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M., both on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Avenue, Batavia, Illinois.
