Russell Ernest Johnson, 90, of North Aurora passed away Friday, September 28, 2012 at his home. He was born July 24, 1922 in Round Grove Township, IL, the son of Ernest and Martha (nee Haskins) Johnson. He was united in marriage to Lois Weichsel on March 12, 1949 in Aurora, IL. After graduating from East Aurora High School in 1941, Russ served his country in the United States Navy for 4 years during World War II. Russ was employed as an auto mechanic for several auto/repair shops in the Fox Valley area. He decided to change careers and became a salesman in the automobile products industry for 15 years prior to his retirement. Russ was a member of the Batavia VFW Post 1197, a life member of Batavia Moose Lodge 682, Over 60 Club of North Aurora, and a member of Union Congregational Church of North Aurora. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois; daughter Karen Dee of Batavia, and grandson Kyle Dee. He is also survived by his sister Betty (Jack) Renford of Spokane, WA. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Dean Johnson and a brother Don Johnson who was MIA over the Himalayas during World War II. The family offers a special thank you to Russ’s doctors, nurses, caregivers, and Transitions Hospice for their loving care and support. The visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m., and a memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia.
