Ardis L. Schmidt

March 25, 1927 - November 4, 2012

Ardis L. Schmidt, age 85, returned to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Delnor Community Hospital, Geneva, IL.  She was born March 25, 1927 in Poy Sippi, WI, the daughter of Paul and Bernice (Greenman) Schwanke. She married Noel Schmidt in Milwaukee on April 12, 1958. Noel preceded Ardis in death on March 19, 1998. Ardis was baptized into Jesus Christ on April 24, 1927 and later confirmed July 28, 1940 at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi where she was a faithful and very active member, always volunteering her time. Ardis graduated from Berlin High School in 1945. After graduation, she worked as a lab technician for the Waupaca County DHIA for over 20 years. Ardis worked at the Poy Sippi Grocery Store and later the Hein Oil Company. She was an excellent bowler and her name is in the St. Louis Bowling Hall of Fame. She was a very active and proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Poy Sippi for over 41 years. She enjoyed knitting and her iPad, keeping in contact with all her wonderful friends. Ardis is survived by her daughter, Mary and son-in-law Dennis Alf of Wayne, IL; grandchildren, Michael (Katie) Alf of Batavia, IL and Steven (Shannon) Alf of St. Charles, IL; GG’s four great-grandchildren, Sofia, Spencer, Sarah, and Ryan; her sisters-in-law, Luvern Kleist of Fremont and Margaret Schrank of New London; and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 12, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. and memorial service will follow at 11:00 A.M. at Emmaus Lutheran Church, Poy Sippi, WI. Interment will follow the service at Concordia Cemetery in West Bloomfield, WI. Luncheon will follow at Emmaus Lutheran Church. Look forward to seeing Ardis with our Lord Jesus Christ in the resurrection.

  • Tim and Kristi Timmerman Tim and I send our sincere condolences on the passing of your Mother. We remember her with fondness. She always had a smile for everyone and enjoyed entertaining. We look back at the times we spent with her and your Dad at many Lion's Club parties and at their delightful Tom and Jerry parties at Christmas time. She is at peace with her Savior and with her beloved Noel. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
