Jean Sandra Boea

May 2, 1929 - January 7, 2013

Sarah Jean Boea made her entrance into this world on May 2, 1929. Her life’s journey ended on Monday January 7, 2013 after a long bout with Alzheimer’s disease. Jean was the daughter of Primrose Williams and Samuel Brickerstaff. She had one sister, Sammie May Williams. Both parents and her sister preceded Jean in death. Jean was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and she grew up in Pikesville, Tennessee where she graduated from high school. As a young adult, she moved to Chicago, Illinois where she worked most of her life in the retail clothing business. At the age of 22, Jean married Clifton B. Charles, Sr. Two boys, Clifton, Jr. and Steven, were the fruits of that union. Due to the pressures of military life and long periods of separation, the married ended in divorce. Some years later, Jean gave birth to her third son Michael. Afterwards, Jean met and married Raymond Boea. During their marriage of 29 years, they had one son Parrish. Jean loved children! She was so very proud of her four sons and she absolutely adored her grandchildren! Jean was very outgoing and she enjoyed people. She enjoyed reading about the lives of celebrities and sharing that information with others. Jean also loved living just outside of the big city of Chicago and all the things it had to offer. Jean will be remembered as a loving, caring mother and grandmother, her flare for high fashion, the ability to draw out the “happy side” of a person, and her sense of humor. She leaves to cherish her memory: four sons Clifton B. Charles, Jr. (Cindy), Steven Charles (Sally), Michael Nelson, and Parrish Boea; five grandchildren Stewart Charles, Braden Charles, Rachel R. Mack, Aaron T. Charles (Regina) and Jazmine Ciarra Boea; five great-grandchildren Deja Lewis, Nyah Lewis, Chyna Mack, Micah Charles and Zion Charles; two nieces Eleanor Williams and Lela Jean Williams; a great niece Jocelyn Williams; and other cousins and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but never forgotten. Visitation will be held 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Moss Family Funeral Home 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL.

  • Kim Scott / Tiara Wright Gramma Jean to me and my daughter to whom Jeanie helped take care of for several years while I worked as a single mother. Without her help I would have been lost. I wish I would have know of her passing earlier as i would have come to show my respects. She will be greatly missed by many. Much love to her and her family. Kim
  • Roland M. Charles & Family Aunt Jean I didn't have a chance to say good-bye and tell you that I love you. We will meet again and say hello to Clif when you see him.
