Marvin Beresheim, of St. Charles, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2013 at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva. He was born July 28, 1929 in Chicago, the son of Charles and Myrtle (nee Wolthusen) Beresheim. He was united in marriage to Vivian E. Rychlik on September 9, 1950 in Chicago.
He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in St. Charles where he was active with the “Owls”. After his wife passed in 2006, Marvin started to enjoy baking and was especially known for his houska (a Bohemian sweet bread). Marvin donated baked goods to several church functions and fundraising events. Prior to retirement, he and Vivian founded Vi-Ber-Mar Maintenance.
He is survived by his loving children, Carl Beresheim of West Olive, Michigan and Linda Beresheim of St. Charles.
In addition to his parents, Marvin is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vivian; their son, Mark Beresheim; and his siblings, Charles, Arthur, Robert, Raymond, and Jeanette.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Monday, January 14, 2013 at Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third Street (three blocks west of the river and one block south of Rt. 64) in St. Charles.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 101 South Sixth Avenue in St. Charles, where he will lie in state from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of the service. Rev. Reuben Baerwald will officiate. Private interment will be in Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
