James J. Quinlan

April 20, 1956 - January 29, 2013

James Quinlan, age 56, of St. Charles, IL passed away with his family at his side on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva, IL.  He was born April 20, 1956 in New Milford, CT, the son of Thomas and Marian (nee Seely) Quinlan.  He was united in marriage to Anna Testolin on June 6, 1981 in South Holland, IL.

Jim was a dedicated professional and had served with the following companies, Cowan Engineering, Canadian Rail, Harris Bank, Northern Trust, and as V.P. of Woodfield Bank.

Jim was a wonderful husband, loving father, and devoted brother.  He was practical but a perfectionist who viewed most things in life as a project; his greatest and most accomplished project being his family.  He enjoyed challenging endeavors, and nothing in his view was unfixable. He was a patient, kind and loving man who befriended everyone he met.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Anna; his children, John Quinlan of Chicago and Carolyn (Daniel) Quinlan Serewicz of St. Charles; his siblings, Joan (Bernie) Sill of Palm Coast, FL, Thomas (Marie) Quinlan of Franklin Park, IL, Mary Quinlan of Washington D.C., Elizabeth Quinlan of Austin, TX, and William (Melissa) Quinlan of Charlotte, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas F. Quinlan.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third Street (three blocks west of the river and one block south of Rt. 64) in St. Charles.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Prairie Cemetery in St. Charles.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Ronald McDonald House Charities - CNI, 1301 West 22nd Street Suite 905, Oakbrook, IL 60523.

  • Mary Pesce Damasco Only knew Jim for a short time but in some way everyone we meet touches our lives. Jim touched mine! He was a kind, caring person. Every snowfall reminds me of him. God bless you Jim.

  • Tim Parker I went to grammar school with Jimmy at St. Francis Xavier in New Milford. Like most of us, Jimmy had a bit of the devil in him as a boy. In Jimmy's case he just applied more energy to his endeavors. At the same time it was obvious that Jimmy was very smart and observant. I lost track of him for many years until we ran into each other, probably in the late 70's. I remember that meeting very well. Jimmy had grown into a very concerned human being and he made people feel as though they had his every attention. I'm sorry for your loss and Jimmy's early demise. I wish we had run into each other again. Jimmy obviously had the great human capacity for enormous growth, and from his obituary he fulfilled that capacity.
