
Jackson Northrup Root, 77, of the Holmstad Retirement Community in Batavia and formerly of Woodstock and Crystal Lake, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013 at Michealsen Health Care in Batavia. Jack was born August 8, 1935 in Quincy, IL the son of Donald and Mercedes (nee Northrup) Root. He was united in marriage to Linnea Swanson August 18, 1962 in Chicago, IL. Jack was a graduate of the University of Illinois in Champaign. He was a member of the marching and concert bands, playing bassoon and clarinet. Jack was employed as a system engineer and technical writer in the computer industry. He is survived by his wife Linnea; sons Gregory (Tracy) Root of Franklin, TN and Timothy (Heather) Root of Lakemoor, IL; grandchildren Kirsten, Tatum and Evan Root; sister Elizabeth (Ernie) Beckett of Twin Falls, Idaho; brother-in-law Charles Swanson; and sister-in-law Roberta Swanson. He is preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Batavia Covenant Church 1314 Main Street, Batavia, IL. Visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church. A private burial took place.
